Nutrition Counselling for Pets

Helping you choose the best foods for your pet's dietary needs.

Pets come in all different shapes and sizes, which means unique dietary requirements based on their individual needs. Nutrition is the foundation of your pet’s health, influencing their growth, development, and overall well-being. Our veterinary team can support you with selecting the best foods for your pet amidst the endless options available on the market.

What is nutritional counselling?

Nutrition counselling involves evaluating your pet’s current diet to determine if adjustments need to be made based on their overall health. Puppies and kittens need food rich in nutrients that promote their growth and development. Their food portions would also look very different from an adult or senior pet since they require different quantities of food throughout the day. Nutrition counselling is also helpful for pets with specific health conditions like allergies that restrict the kinds of foods they can eat. We can determine recommendations to improve your pet's overall well-being by assessing their diet. If you’re interested in booking an appointment, please contact us at 204-346-1429.

Can I feed all of my pets the same foods?

Depending on your pets’ ages, breeds, and overall health, they’ll need different foods to support their nutritional needs. This means feeding your pets foods unique to their specific health versus using a one-bite-fits-all approach. For example, giant breeds like Great Danes, Irish Wolfhounds, and Giant Schnauzers have special dietary requirements. Very few commercial puppy foods offer the ideal mix of calcium, energy, and protein levels that these breeds need. We can provide you with feeding recommendations that will encourage your dog’s maximum growth potential without causing developmental problems. For added convenience, we also stock veterinary-approved diets for giant breeds.
